EMS Division

On August 1, 2004 the Pamplin Volunteer Fire Department put a Medical First Responder progam together into service. This unit was licenced by the Commonwealth of Virginia and the Office of EMS. It started out with 18 members. All members had either a 1st Responder or EMT-B certification.

This unit did not transport patients to the hospital but proceeded with first aid until a rescue squad agency arrived. The Pamplin First Responders used a 1993 Chevrolet Suburban that was donated by the Chesapeake Fire Department.

In 2007 a Ambulance was brought into the department and was placed into service. With the capability of this new ambulance, we can now transport patients to the hospital without the service of first responders. The 2007 Chevrolet Ambulance has become a great asset to the department and to the community.

The Pamplin Ambulace has assisted the community with multiple calls ranging from motor vehicle accidents, cardiac problems, health problems and various other medical emergency calls.
